Eric Molobi is to chair Metropolitan as the financial services group strengthens its ties with Kagiso,
Gloria Serobe is standing down as chairman of Metropolitan Holdings in favour of Eric Molobi, executive chairman of Kagiso Trust Investments, Metropolitan’s strategic business partner.
Molobi will take over from Serobe from 1 January 2005.
“Although I remain committed to Metropolitan and will continue to advance the interests of the group to the best of my ability, I felt it was important that Kagiso be given every opportunity to extend their sphere of influence.
“With Eric at the helm, they will have even greater scope for active involvement in the group’s future development,” says Serobe.
The handover will allow Serobe more time to devote to the chairmanship of the Life Offices’ Association (LOA), a position to which she has recently been appointed, as well as to her responsibilities as a member of the newly established Financial Sector Charter Council.
