TransUnion’s Analytic and Decision Services division in South Africa has recently appointed leading retail credit expert Peter Saunders in the capacity of retail business consultant. He will be reporting directly to Paul Yon, Executive: Retail Business.

Saunders has more than 38 years experience in retail related businesses. He started his career at Edcon and later joined Prefcor. The company, which was previously known as Clobea, developed the first retail-bank card product in South Africa that was branded as the Prefer card. The card was co-branded with Perm.

Saunders later joined the Mr Price Group where he was part of the team who centralised the credit function for the group. The credit centralisation primarily included Miladys, the Hub and Galaxy Jewellery. Saunders was also part of the team who launched the retail credit function for the Mr Price brands.

Saunders commented: “I look forward to working with the leaders in the analytics and decisioning arena. TransUnion understands that in today’s environment it is important to know how to manage and leverage the information that surrounds the credit life-cycle of a consumer and use that information to deliver solutions that enable our customers to grow their business.”

Yon added: “Peter brings years of experience and extensive knowledge of the retail credit industry from the customer’s point-of view. His perspective, from both sides of the transaction, will help us in the development of more customer-centric solutions that address the dynamic needs of this market.”
