Investec Asset Management today announced the appointment of Duane Cable to its global Quality team, led by Clyde Rossouw and Simon Brazier. Cable will take on the role of co-portfolio manager of the Investec Cautious Managed Strategy alongside Rossouw and Sumesh Chetty later next year. He will also assume leadership responsibility for the SA Quality team at that point.

Rossouw remains portfolio manager of the Investec Opportunity Strategy.

Cable brings a wealth of experience to Investec Asset Management, especially in the portfolio management of absolute return strategies, including co-management of the Coronation Balanced Defensive Fund. Before joining Investec Asset Management, Cable spent 12 years at Coronation, most recently as Head of SA Equities. During his time there he rose through the ranks from research assistant to investment analyst and portfolio manager before being appointed Head of SA Equities in 2013.

“We are very excited to welcome Duane to Investec Asset Management. Given the recent market experience, investors are increasingly focusing their attention on the role that defensive strategies can play within their portfolios. With Duane’s experience and track record in this space we are confident that he will help us build on the initial success of our Cautious Managed Strategy,” said Rossouw, Co-Head of Quality.

Cable is a CFA charter holder and a chartered accountant. He graduated from the University of Cape Town with a Bachelor of Commerce and the University of Natal with a Bachelor of Commerce, Honours degree.
