Ian van Schoor appointed CEO: Marketing and Distribution for Liberty Group

Ian van Schoor, has been appointed as CEO: Marketing and Distribution for the Liberty Group, now accountable for the strategic alignment and implementation of both Liberty Life and Stanlib's marketing, distribution and sales businesses.

Van Schoor's career began in 1993 when he joined Standard Merchant Bank, where he served an apprentice period before being appointed as a portfolio manager in the Asset Management Operations and subsequently assumed responsibility for the management of  SCMBs insurance portfolios as well as a number of institutional pension portfolios.

In 1996 he diversified into product development with particular focus on bancassurance products and in 1997 he was appointed Head of Marketing and Strategic Development for SCMB Asset  Management.  In 2003 Ian was appointed CEO of STANLIB Wealth Management, with specific accountability for Stanlib's Retail and African businesses as well as marketing,  distribution  and sales for Stanlib . In 2006 he was given additional responsibilities as the commercial head of STANLIB.
