STANLIB Asset Management is pleased to announce the promotion of Chetan Ramlall to portfolio manager in the Systematic Solutions team, effective 1 April 2026.

This appointment is aligned with STANLIB’s long-standing commitment to the development of future leaders within its investment teams.

Chetan joined STANLIB’s graduate programme in 2019. He became a Quantitative Analyst, was promoted to Senior Quantitative Analyst and later, Head of Quantitative Research across multi style, and indexation strategies before taking on the role of Portfolio Manager. He has been actively involved in portfolio management across the systematic active equity fund range for several years and has led AI and machine learning initiatives at STANLIB.

“This promotion reflects Chetan’s progression into a multi skilled researcher and portfolio manager, combining curiosity with academia, technology and data to address complex investment challenges, in line with the direction of our Systematic Solutions capability. We are proud to recognise and promote talent from within, and Chetan’s progression at STANLIB is a great example of the depth of capability we continue to build across the business,” says Mark Lovett, Head of Investments at STANLIB Asset Management.

Before joining STANLIB, Chetan spent three years as an electrical engineer in industry, where he led multi disciplinary engineering teams across several complex projects before moving into asset management.

He holds an MPhil in Mathematical Finance (with distinction) from the University of Cape Town and a BSc (Honours) in Electrical Engineering from the University of KwaZulu Natal, and has received numerous awards for academic achievement.

“My journey into portfolio management has been shaped by a deep interest in how data, technology and human behaviour come together in markets. With the world changing as rapidly as it is, this is an especially exciting time to be an investor – one that makes discipline and process more important than ever,” said Chetan.

The STANLIB Systematic Solutions team applies data-driven analysis, innovative portfolio design, and human insight to guide investment decisions. The team is led by Rademeyer Vermaak and manages the STANLIB Core Multi-Style Equity Fund, STANLIB Enhanced Multi-Style Equity Fund, STANLIB Equity Fund, STANLIB Property Income Fund as well as the STANLIB Global Enhanced Fund and STANLIB Global Property Fund.
