Gerrit Joubert appointed for Sanlam's operations in India

Sanlam is pleased to confirm the appointment of Gerhard Joubert (pictured right), current CEO of the Life Offices’ Association of South Africa (LOA), to head up a new distribution initiative for Sanlam Developing Markets’ (SDM) operations in India. He will assume office on 1 October 2008.

SDM conducts its business operations in India through the Shriram Life Insurance Company.

Heinie Werth, chief executive of SDM, says the appointment of Joubert follows Sanlam’s satisfactory progress in the Indian market since it acquired an interest in Shriram in 2005.

“We want to develop the distribution initiatives of Shriram further in regions of India where Shriram does not yet have a major presence and we are pleased to have obtained the services of Gerhard with his thorough knowledge and experience of the insurance industry to drive this expansion”, Werth said.
