GCI Asset Management strengthens team with appointment of Louis van Gass as Portfolio Manager

06 August 2015 GCI Asset Management

GCI has announced the appointment of Louis van Gass as Portfolio Manager in its Asset Management division. Van Gass holds an Honours degree in Business Management from the University of Stellenbosch. He previously worked for PSG Wealth for the past five-and-a-half years, where he was part of a team managing some R35 billion of assets.

“GCI is a growing boutique asset management firm currently growing by more than 200 percent over the past 30 months,” says Van Gass. “The chance to be a part of that growth story, and join a relatively small and highly skilled team was irresistible.”

Van Gass says that as the burden of compliance grows, independent financial advisors will need the services of professional asset managers like GCI to perform due diligence on the large number of local and offshore funds, and then manage their exposure to them in the light of client needs.

His appointment follows on the heels of GCI’s appointment of Greg Flash as Chief Investment Officer in its Asset Management division.

“The global investment market is characterised by growing regulation and a lot of free money looking for a home. Choosing the right investment options has never been more important, or trickier, and that’s where GCI comes in,” comments Alex Cook, CEO of GCI. “We are actively looking for skilled professionals like Louis, with the right mix of skill, experience and flair to help us capitalise on that opportunity. We will continue to prosper if we help our clients and advisors to prosper as well.”
