Franklin Templeton appoints new country head for its Africa division

Franklin Templeton Investments is delighted to announce that Jo-Anne Bailey has been appointed Director: Africa, Franklin Templeton Investments with immediate effect. In this role, Bailey will be responsible for developing the firm's retail and institutional businesses across the African continent. Based in Cape Town, South Africa, Bailey will report to Andrew Ashton, Regional Head for Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEEMEA), who is currently based in Dubai.

Commenting on Bailey's appointment, Ashton said: “Franklin Templeton has grown its presence in Africa since 1995 with an office in Johannesburg, overseeing the distribution of its products in key markets such as South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Kenya and Mauritius. In that time, the group has made significant strides in the region and is now well known for its equity and fixed income products. We are delighted to welcome Jo-Anne to the company and to this role, which reflects our strong belief in the growth potential of this region.”

Prior to joining Franklin Templeton, Bailey was the Head of Institutional Business Development at Cadiz Asset management focusing on client retention, product development, institutional business growth and marketing. Bailey has spent over 16 years in the financial services industry, with experience at various asset management businesses including Investec, Prodigy, Coronation and RMB Asset Management. She holds a B.A., LLB degree and a H.Dip. in Tax from the University of Cape Town.

Franklin Templeton opened its office in South Africa in 1995, adding to Franklin Templeton's network of over 30 offices around the world.
