Fletcher named head of Imara Africa Securities

Justin Fletcher.

Justin Fletcher has been appointed head of Imara Africa Securities by the pan-African Imara financial services group.

Fletcher was a member of the founding executive team at Imara Africa Securities. The Africa-wide investment service – part of Johannesburg-based S.P.Reid Stockbrokers – was launched in 2010 as a channel to equity and bond investment opportunities on 17 African stock exchanges. The initial institutional offering was widened 16 months ago to include a retail component.

Fletcher entered the investment industry in 1994 as a junior trader on the JSE market floor at Kaplan & Stewart Stockbrokers and later became senior dealer for the US firm, Raymond James Stewart. He subsequently joined O’Flaherty & Sundelson and is a former director of trading with Rice Rinaldi Securities.

Fletcher joined Imara S.P. Reid in 2003, initially managing a proprietary and arbitrage book before being tasked with the growth of retail, asset management and corporate business.
