The Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa (FPI) recently announced the appointment of Adv. Sankie Morata, CFP® as new chairperson of the Institute for a two year-term. Ntai Phoofolo, CFP®, has also been appointed as chairperson-elect to assist Morata in leading the board.

“Having worked closely with Sankie and Ntai on the board of FPI over the last few years, and as I hand over my baton into their capable hands, I have no doubt that the professional body that means so much to all of us will be lead with distinction and passion. I would also like to take this opportunity to wish the board every success and I’m certain that FPI will continue to make great strides during your leadership,” said Govender.
“In my experience I have seen few leaders as focused, driven, yet compassionate as Prem. She has served the Institute as director and chairperson extremely well. Thanks to her passion and leadership, FPI has made significant progress on key focus areas, such as FPI achieving official recognition by the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA) as a professional body as well as developing strong relationships with key stakeholders. We, at FPI, would like to wish her all the best in her future endeavors,” said FPI CEO, Godfrey Nti.
“Furthermore, we look forward to working with Sankie as the newly appointed chairperson; and have full confidence that his valuable experience and expertise will help take FPI and the financial planning profession to even greater heights,” added Nti
In addition, FPI announced the appointment of a number of new and re-elected Board of Directors, at the FPI Annual General Meeting held on 24 June 2014 at the Sandton Convention Centre.
Newly appointed Gerhardt Meyer, CFP®, Legal Executive at Old Mutual and former FPI Chairperson as well as Navin Ramparsad, CFP®, Head of Legal at Momentum Wealth, join the Board. Re-elected Logie Govender, CFP®, KwaZulu-Natal Regional Consulting Manager at NMG Consulting; Ronald King, CFP®, Director at PSG Wealth and David Thomson, CFP®, Legal Advisor at Sanlam life will resume directorship for the 2014-2016 board term.
“The FPI Board of Directors’ role is to assess the overall direction and strategy of the business along with the chief executive. The board has a responsibility to develop a governance system for the business, which provides the organisation with a framework for the overall strategy.” said Sankie Morata, CFP®, and newly appointed FPI Chairperson.
“All appointed individuals have remarkable knowledge of the Institute as well as the broader financial services industry. I have no doubt that they will continue to uphold the Institute’s mission to advance the pre-eminence and status of the financial planning profession as well as the CFP® mark.” concluded Nti.
