Dr Reuel Jethro Khoza, Non-executive Director and Chairman on the Boards at Assupol Holdings

Assupol is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Reuel Jethro Khoza as non-executive director and chairman on the boards of both Assupol Holdings and Assupol Life.
Dr Khoza is currently chairman of Dzana Investments and AKA Capital, a former Chairman of Nedbank Group Limited and Globeleq, and a director of several other companies. He has chaired the boards of such corporations as Eskom Holdings and GlaxoSmithKline South Africa and served as a director of JSE Limited, IBM South Africa, Liberty Life Group, Standard Bank Group, Nampak Limited and Old Mutual plc. He has been involved in the formulation of the King Codes on Corporate Governance in King II, King III and King IV, serving as Mervyn King’s deputy in the last two instances.

“It is a privilege to serve a truly South African company such as Assupol,” said Dr Khoza. “The company authentically expresses the values of our country. It is a dynamic, people-centred organisation, actively transforming and well positioned to navigate the challenges of our industry, be they economic, regulatory or on a broader social level. What impresses me most, though, is the attendant compassion and authenticity of Assupol’s service philosophy – to put service at the core of its mission and rallying call. The exceptional way in which Assupol serves its clients has also been recognised by Capital Finance International as Assupol wins the CFI award for best insurer in Southern Africa for the 5th consecutive year from 2015 to 2019.”

Assupol continues to focus on cost-effectively and efficiently delivering needs-based insurance solutions and superior client experience to the South African market. Our transformation strategy is integral to this, incorporating evolution of our management team and transformation of the insurance sector.

The appointment of Dr Khoza will add impetus to these initiatives and further strengthen the boards of Assupol Holdings and Assupol Life, helping to steer the Assupol group of companies though market volatility and regulatory changes. We look forward to his invaluable contributions.
