Chubb announces senior Claims appointments in South Africa

11 August 2016 Chubb

Chubb today announced the appointment of Sharon Thomson as Claims Manager and the promotion of Thabo Mofolo to Deputy Claims Manager for South Africa.

In her new role, Sharon will be responsible for managing Chubb’s claims operations across all business lines in South Africa, ensuring that the company’s claims service is aligned to customer needs.

Sharon has 27 years of relevant industry experience. She joins Chubb from Mirabilis Engineering Underwriting Managers where she held the position of National Claims Manager, leading the company’s claims department. She will be based in Chubb’s Sandton office and will report to Gary Jack, Country President for Chubb in South Africa.

Additionally, Thabo Mofolo, formerly Assistant Claims Manager for Chubb in South Africa has been promoted to the role of Deputy Claims Manager in South Africa. Reporting to Sharon in his new role, Thabo will support the development of the company’s claims operation in addition to having responsibility for his own portfolio of claims.

Thabo has 28 years of insurance industry experience, including nine with Chubb, where he has held a series of claims positions. In his new role, he will continue to be based in Chubb’s Sandton office.

Sharon’s appointment and Thabo’s promotion are both effective immediately.

Gary Jack, Country President for Chubb in South Africa, said:

“I am delighted with Sharon’s appointment as Claims Manager. Her extensive industry experience, management capability and technical knowledge make her a great addition to Chubb’s team in South Africa. Sharon is strongly positioned to lead our claims function and ensure we respond to our clients’ rapidly evolving claims needs in South Africa with efficiency, transparency and speed".

I am also very pleased with Thabo’s well-deserved promotion to Deputy Claims Manager, which will allow him to use the skills and experience he has built up with the company to even greater effect in future.

I would also like to wish Charmaine Moreira every success in her future endeavours. She was with the company for 10 years and played an integral role in setting up and running our claims department in South Africa.”
