Chartis appoints new managing director for South Africa business

Chartis Insurance has announced the appointment of Mike Durek as Managing Director of Chartis South Africa with effect from the beginning of June.

Commenting on the appointment, Michael Whitwell, president of Chartis central region said, “South Africa is a vibrant and growing insurance market, presenting significant opportunities for the future. It is a critical market for Chartis for both our consumer and commercial business. Mike has a reputation and proven track record for driving growth, establishing strong working relationships with distribution partners and leading large teams to achieve profitable results.”

Mike Durek joins Chartis from Ace Insurance South Africa, where he was the CEO since 2008. Prior to this Mike has spent a number of years with Glenrand MIB Insurance Brokers as well as Alexander Forbes Risk Solutions.
