To enhance internal collaboration and ensure a seamless experience for clients, leading full-service law firm Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr has appointed the respected Mark Linington as head of its private equity sector group.
“Following a wave of exciting new appointments, Mark's elevation comes as part of our strategy to focus and co-ordinate our services around key sectors in South Africa and across Africa and to meet our clients' complex and growing requirements”, says Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr CEO, Brent Williams.
The firm’s specialist private equity team – which cuts across all practice areas – has substantial experience in all aspects relating to fund structuring and portfolio movements for both private equity funds and strategic investment houses. The full spectrum of legal services is offered as a collaboration of experienced specialists, covering mainly corporate and commercial, competition, finance and banking and tax, and drawing from other practice areas when required.
“Mark has advised on the tax aspects of some of the biggest and most prominent private equity and corporate transactions concluded in South Africa and has been at the forefront of lobbying efforts in tax legislation affecting private equity. His expertise is widely recognised with extensive tax and private equity advisory experience,” says Williams.
CDH is gearing up for renewed growth and an exciting future following an update to its corporate branding last year. It recently hired three new directors to join its corporate and commercial practice following eight partner appointments late last year as it moves to grow its practice in key sectors.
“Our new hires are in line with our strategy to grow our service offering in the sectors in which our clients do business in South Africa and the rest of the continent,” says Williams.
