Terence Williams.

Aon South Africa today announced the appointment of Terence Williams as Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect. Terence Williams replaces former CEO Anton Roux, who held the reigns for ten years. Roux will remain with the company as Chairman of Aon Sub-Sahara Africa and a board member.

Terence joined Aon in June 2001 as a Broking Director in the UK, in August 2011 he was appointed Head of Casualty Aon Global and in March 2013 he came to South Africa where he held the position of Chief Broking officer. His appointment as CEO reaffirms the company’s commitment to unmatched talent and developing outstanding leaders from within its ranks.

“Among a host of great candidates, Terence stood out in terms of strong leadership, directly applicable experience, and a strong track record of delivery within the business. He has a deep technical understanding of the broking market and proven insights into the business dynamics,” said Robert Brown, CEO of Aon EMEA.

“We know that he takes on this new leadership chapter with the support of a strong and dynamic Aon team and we have every confidence in his ability to lead this organisation in the highly competitive and rapidly evolving South African business environment,” he added.

Aon was established in South Africa in 1996 and it forms part of Aon plc (NYSE: AON), the leading global provider of risk management services, insurance and reinsurance brokerage, and human resources solutions and outsourcing services.
