PSG has appointed Anet Ahern as Chief Executive Officer of PSG Asset Management with effect from 1 March 2013, it was announced today.

Anet Ahern joins PSG with extensive experience in the asset management industry. During her 27 year career she has been involved in the management of assets and companies in the local and global fund management industry in both the primary and multi management fields.

Her previous roles included Chief Executive Officer of Sanlam Multi Manager International, a multi manager operation based in Cape Town and London, and Head of Research at SIM Global. Before that she was Chief Executive of BoE Asset Management (later known as Quaystone), after being portfolio manager at Syfrets Managed Assets. She started her career in 1986 in the trading office of Allan Gray.

She is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a Bachelor of Business Science (Hons) degree from the University of Cape Town as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning from the University of Orange Free State.

Commenting on Ahern’s appointment, PSG Konsult Deputy CEO Francois Gouws said: “We are very pleased to welcome Anet to PSG Asset Management as our new Chief Executive. She joins us with extensive management skills and will no doubt help us to achieve our ambitious goals in asset management."

Anet Ahern said of her appointment: “The South African fund management industry is extremely concentrated. This is not unusual; however some of the highly regarded and successful companies are now very large firms.”

“There is space for nimble, skilful investment managers to play a bigger role in the offering to investors. In this context, I believe that PSG is very well placed. It is an exciting opportunity for me to be part of sharing PSG Asset Management's capabilities with more investors searching for a focused and capable investment manager with growth opportunities.”
