Amplify Investment Partners has announced the appointment of two new co-fund managers to the well-established Amplify SCI Strategic Income Fund, one of its flagship, high-performing income solutions.

They are Terebinth Capital’s Carmen Nel, Head of Multi-Asset and Kanyane Matlou, Deputy Chief Investment Officer.

Terebinth Capital is the appointed investment manager of the Amplify SCI Strategic Income Fund. Nel and Matlou will work alongside Terebinth’s existing portfolio managers: Chief Investment Officer Erik Nel, and Managing Director Nomathibana Okello, bringing further depth to a strong management team.

Amplify’s Managing Director, Wade Witbooi, says that the pair bring significant additional skills to a fund that “consistently outperforms with active investment across liquid and high-quality fixed interest assets”.

“These appointments are aimed at strengthening the fund’s consistent outperformance and building on its long-term track record of delivering strong returns for investors. Carmen brings extensive experience in macroeconomics, fixed income, modelling and investment idea-generation to the team. Kanyane is a seasoned macro specialist who has already played a key role in managing the fund’s listed property exposure, and will also lend his strategic marketing capabilities to the fund’s growth trajectory,” adds Witbooi.

Launched in September 2014, the Amplify SCI Strategic Income Fund has attracted R18.3 billion in assets under management. It is an actively managed, conservative fixed-income fund, benchmarked against SteFI +1%.

“We look forward to working closely with Carmen and Kanyane and to creating greater value for our clients,” concluded Witbooi.
