Akani appoints new Legal and Compliance Executive

Akani Retirement Fund Administrators (Akani) has appointed Merriam Chueu as their Strategic Manager for Legal and Compliance with the effect from 01 June 2023.

Zamani Letjane, the Chairman of Akani said, “Merriam joins our group at a pivotal moment to steer our Legal and Compliance division, a critical aspect of our business. She will ensure that our business does not only comply with the laws of the land but also adheres to the highest corporate governance standards in the highly regulated financial services environment.

Chueu – an admitted attorney – joins Akani from Transnet Engineering where she was an executive manager for legal and compliance. Her previous leadership experience includes senior roles at South African Civil Aviation Authority, South African Express, amongst others.
