AIG SA appoints general manager for country region

Reinhard Franke, who has over 40 years experience in the insurance industry, has joined AIG South Africa as General Manager.

Franke will oversee all aspects of the South African business, with all country operations reporting to him.

Franke joins AIG SA from AIU New York, where he was Senior Vice President in Strategic Accounts Practice responsible for developing and implementing strategies for the top 50 clients of AIU representing a $4 billion portfolio. From 2001 to 2008 he was based in Germany where he held the position of General Manager, AIG Europe.

Prior to joining AIG in 2001, Franke held various senior positions within Allianz Insurance Company in Germany, Brazil and the United States of America.

“I am delighted that Reinhard is joining our Africa Region at a time when our South African operations are showing so much promise,” said Peter Flint, President of the AIG Africa Region.

“Reinhard brings to the South African market multiple years of international general insurance experience, and a passion and enthusiasm to drive AIG South Africa’s market presence to new heights.”
