Absa Group today announced the appointment Sizakele Marutlulle as Head of Marketing for Africa, with overall responsibility for all Absa and Barclays Africa Brand and Marketing functions.

Marutlulle joined Absa on 4 July 2012. She brings to the Group a wealth of experience in brand and communication strategy, business development and change management. She has held a number of senior strategic roles, both in Africa and internationally.

Prior to her new role, Marutlulle was CEO of advertising agency, Grey SA.

Absa Group Chief Executive Maria Ramos says Marutlulle’s appointment comes at an exciting time as the business gathers momentum around its One Africa strategy.

Says Ramos: “We are delighted to have someone of Sizakele’s calibre lead our marketing function. I’m sure that she will use her knowledge and experience in a great way to support our pan-African business imperatives. She joins us just as we are working hard to roll out our One Africa strategy. Her knowledge of the continent will surely come in handy.”

As Head of Brand and Marketing for Africa, Marutlulle is tasked with building the Group’s brand presence not only in South Africa but across the continent.
