#TIA2025 unveils this year’s rising stars

This week marked a major milestone for The Insurance Apprentice as #TIA2025 lit up the big screen, followed by its national television debut on Thursday, 17 July, at 7 PM on SABC 3.

Cinematic premiere unveils top 10 in style

Guests were treated to a confidential, first-of-its-kind screening experience at The Insurance Apprentice (TIA) premiere on Wednesday, 16 July with executives from Sasria SOC Ltd, over 35 sponsors, SABC representatives, media, and influencers all united by a commitment to spotlight rising talent in South Africa’s insurance industry and of course change the narrative about how people see insurance.

Episode 1 task summary

Following regional elimination rounds in Durban, Cape Town, and Johannesburg, our Top 20 face the final test in Episode 1, sponsored by Discovery Insure, where they had to confront one of South Africa’s most urgent insurance challenges: how to bring protection to the uninsured.

Contestants had to design an insurance product that helps more South Africans protect their belongings - like cars and homes - by making insurance more accessible, rewarding, and trustworthy. Using shared-value principles, their solutions should benefit both customers and insurers. Ideas were pitched to a panel of judges, including Darryl Grater (Discovery Insure), Linah Mabena (Standard Bank Insurance Brokers), Nox Dlamini (TIA co-judge), Simon Colman (The Liability Company) and Temwa Nyirenda (Santam and TIA 2024 winner) for evaluation.
