The Road Accident Fund’s (RAFs) bank account attachment by Sheriffs of the Court have been lifted and payments to claimants, service providers, stakeholders and caregivers have resumed. The attachment obstructed payments to the value of approximately R550 million to various stakeholders.

To assist insurance companies in minimizing their risk ratio, GPS Tracking Solutions, a division of Eqstra Fleet Management & Logistics, has launched GPS Lite, a tracking system and smartphone app which allows both drivers and their insurance companies to manage driver behaviour by producing a driver profile/scorecard highlighting speeding, excessive idling and harsh braking. A SARS compliant logbook is also included in the app – this can be managed, but it is initially determined by the driver’s working hours.

The Road Accident Fund (RAF) regrets to inform claimants, service providers, stakeholders and caregivers that payments have ground to a halt due to the RAF’s bank account being attached by the Sheriff of the Court. This is a result of a few legal firms whose actions have disrupted an established cash management plan which now inconsiderately prioritises them over those who have patiently been awaiting payment.
