Cartrack’s recovery warranty of up to R150 000

Two years ago, stolen vehicle recovery, fleet management and telematics specialist, Cartrack, became the only vehicle tracking company in South Africa’s history to ever offer clients a warranty payment of up to R150 000 in the unlikely event that they are unable to recover a client’s stolen or hijacked vehicle. The warranty offer is available as a value-add at no additional cost over and above the standard retail rates for a stolen vehicle recovery system for Cartrack.

“Today we are still the only tracking company in South Africa that is able to back our independently audited recovery stats with a recovery warranty,” says John Edmeston, CEO of Cartrack. “We have been auditing our recovery rate for more than two years with our current audited recovery rate pegged at 94%. Of the 6% of vehicles that we were unable to locate, we have paid out all warranties to our clients, barring two claims that were repudiated, both on proper grounds,” he adds.

In the event of a loss without recovery, Cartrack undertakes to pay their clients a lump sum in lieu of the book value of the vehicle; which is the average of the trade and retail value of the vehicle as per the ITC Auto Dealers Guide as at the month of the theft, limited to a maximum amount of R150 000. The warranty applies to Cartrack products that include the Stolen Vehicle Recovery (SVR) service at no additional cost over and above the standard retail rates for a SVR system from Cartrack. Standard Terms and conditions do however apply to the warranty to counter any attempts of fraud or self-enrichment.

“We realise that there will be rare occasions when a recovery may not be successful. We don’t however believe that our clients should be left holding the short end of the stick in such a case. Our clients can rest assured that if their vehicle is legitimately stolen and not recovered, they will not be left financially compromised. Even with insurance cover in place, the reality is that there are always costs which you won’t have planned for,” he explains.

That leaves just one final and really important question that every vehicle owner should be asking: Does your tracking company have sufficient confidence in its recovery systems to provide independently audited recovery stats backed with a recovery warranty?
