HCV introduces the Repair + Care Cover
Marking a first for commercial vehicle insurance in South Africa, Heavy Commercial Vehicle Underwriting Managers © HCV (Pty) Limited 2013, has introduced repair+care©, a new cover which combines their traditional service with mechanical breakdown, roadsid
Anything from an air leak to an engine failure, © HCV (Pty) Limited 2013 will cover all costs excluding spares, tires or ancillaries. In addition, in the event of a trailer failure, provided the trailer is being pulled by a prime mover covered by © HCV (Pty) Limited 2013, the entire combination i.e. the rig (truck tractor and/ or trailers) will be covered.
Managing Director of © HCV (Pty) Limited 2013, Chris Barry explains, “While previously we only covered the towing costs, now we are the first insurer in the country to offer a full roadside assistance and breakdown repair insurance product.”
“For example, if an engine seizes, we will pay for the policyholder’s appointed repairer’s time, labour costs, the trans-shipment of the spares and towing if necessary, but we will not pay for the engine or any other spares.”
The new repair+care© service aims to get the vehicle back on the road in the shortest possible lead time, with no extra costs beyond the required spares.
Repair+care© is being launched as a pilot project which will be tested, improved and adapted over the coming months in accordance with customer needs.
Barry says, “The launch of this pilot project follows the success of our recently launched tow+care, a service that caters for towing cover in the event of a mechanical breakdown. From this we were able to launch repair+care as our research shows the necessity of a fully covered service which saves time and money in the long run. If a Client of ours breaks down in peak hour traffic, our Clients can relax as they are only holding up the traffic grid as long as it takes for our Services to get there.”
According to Barry, with premiums costing an average of R 150 per month, the service offers excellent return on investment.
“We try to focus heavily on quality and efficiency in our service offering and will rely on research, case-studies and most importantly feedback from clients to ensure that this is totally successful,” adds Barry.
“We are confident that repair+care© will add even more value to policyholders and build on our promise of ‘caring for trucks + truckers©.”
