Fix it on your terms

20 September 2006 Angelo Coppola

Trevor Nkube Newspaper owner and Zimbabwean - says that he is a consumer of the life offices products. He says that reputation, track record and integrity are important considerations, and all are in danger.

He maintains that Zimbabwe and the local life industry are in similar situations.

He called for less jargon or less non-disclosure. If there is more dirty laundry he called on the industry to hang it out themselves, because the truth will come out.

He said that companies shouldnt hide behind legalities. "Correct your mistakes on your own terms. You can revisit your values and reinvent yourselves.

"Do what is right by the customer.

"Don't blame the pfa or the media for the situation you are in. And bear in mind that introspection is needed as the pfa and the media are reflecting the frustration of the consumers.

"You are not victims of an uninformed press- as we are not self-serving and uninformed.

"The public, he says "and the media see the life offices as disinterested and motivated by profit and sales without the balance of customer satisfaction and no long term sustainability."

Editor's thoughts:
* While Nkube spoke several weeks ago on this topic, its relevance is valid.
