A Warning for Covering Doctors The judgement contains a number of salutary lessons for medical practitioners. When a doctor covers for another that does not mean that the covering doctor is merely on standby for any emergency that could arise during the absence of the patients’ regular doctor, nor that the covering doctor does not assume normal responsibility for the patient.
