Some green?
Anglo American slid 1.90% followed by AngloPlat (-1.64%) while SABMiller (-0.71%) ignored the parties of the weekend. The rand gained some ground against the dollar and pound while the euro moved forward against the rand and dollar.
Commodities ignored the weaker dollar with gold dimming by 0.37% and platinum losing 0.81% while oil dropped 3.18% on Friday. US market recorded a gain of almost 1% on Friday with General Electric jumping almost 1% while UnitedHealth Group (4.10%) gave a further shot in the arm.
European markets were also stronger in spite of the oil majors trading lower as a result of the weaker oil price. The Far East is following the US and Europe higher this morning on the better sentiment towards the US economy.
As the colours changed from Friday’s red, to orange and blue on Saturday we expect that we will see some green during the week ahead of the major clash on Saturday.
