Satrix teams up with EasyEquities to launch SatrixNOW
Helena Conradie, Satrix CEO.
Satrix, together with EasyEquities, is now making it even easier to invest in Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) through a new online investment platform called SatrixNOW. Judging by the recent set of results from Purple Group, their easy-to-use and cost effective EasyEquities trading platform is well on its way to becoming one of the leading platforms of the investing world. This relationship enables Satrix, the largest equity index tracking provider in South Africa, to employ the same innovative technology driving the EasyEquities platform to offer ETF’s to the nation.
ETFs are listed securities which trade on the JSE. They track an underlying index delivering cost effective market exposure. Satrix is the South African ETF pioneer, having launched the first ETF in November 2000. As passive investing becomes ever more popular globally, smaller entrants have launched product into the South African market, but Satrix remains the brand and product of choice.
Historically, individuals wanting to invest in an ETF often needed prohibitive sums of money and a stock broking account. To overcome these hurdles, Satrix launched the Satrix Investment Plan in 2006, enabling thousands of South Africans, who may not necessarily have met the criteria to hold a stockbroking account, to access ETFs for as little as R300 per month.
Satrix ETFs have long been the investment vehicle of choice for South African investors wanting control over their money, and ultimately their investments, in an easy and cost effective way. It therefore makes good sense for Satrix to offer its entire ETF range to investors via the simplicity and cost effectiveness of the SatrixNOW platform.
“Everyone knows they should be saving. It’s one of those things that stays on the ‘to do’ list year after year and seldom receives attention. SatrixNOW means there are no more excuses!” says Helena Conradie, CEO of Satrix. “We believe in partnering with the people who have the same ethos about investing that we do,” says Helena. “Satrix has always been about democratising investing - about making it less intimidating and more accessible - this is why we chose EasyEquities as our platform partner in launching SatrixNOW.”
“EasyEquities is proud to partner with Satrix – the leaders in making investing more accessible for all, no matter their economic or investing background,” Says CEO Charles Savage. “Using our bespoke technology, passionate team and service ethic which saw us winning SA’s Top Stockbroker award as well as being named Top Tax Free Savings Account by Investor’s Monthly, we are excited to partner with Satrix in empowering more South Africans”.
