Local equities closed slightly higher on Friday, says Nico Kelder, economist at the Efficient Group.
This, while the currency weakening by 2 percent against the dollar and the US dollar weakened more than 1 percent against the euro.
The bond market continued to weaken indicating higher future interest rates. Gold and oil declined despite weaker dollar while platinum gained.
European and US markets gained on Friday, markets in the Far East are also trading higher this morning. We expect that local equities will trade higher today.
