Local equities lost ground again yesterday as the rand showed some strength during trading hours, this helped the bond market to strengthen slightly, says Nico Kelder, economist at the Efficient Group.
The currency closed weaker against the majors, while the dollar lost ground against the euro helping platinum prices higher but gold and oil prices declined.
International markets closed flat yesterday and the Nikkei is also flat so far this morning. Local equities should open high after which European markets and the rand will be the main items that will be looked at.
