Wider role for Richard Garland, as firm expands international presence

Investec Asset Management today announced the promotion of Richard Garland, formerly the company’s Managing Director for Mutual Funds (Americas), to Managing Director, International Distribution, with immediate effect.

Richard’s new role will continue to encompass offshore mutual fund sales in North and South America, to which he will now add responsibility for cross border sales, which includes both institutional and mutual fund clients, as well as overall responsibility for the key global distribution networks. This assignment will also include direct responsibility for sales into Continental Europe and Japan. Richard joined Investec Asset Management in September 2006, with a brief to grow Investec Asset Management’s mutual funds business in the Americas.

Hendrik du Toit, Chief Executive Officer of Investec Asset Management, commented:

"We are delighted with the excellent contribution Richard has made during his first year with Investec Asset Management. His combination of experience and drive makes him the ideal person to lead our response to increased investor interest from areas where we do not yet have an established presence. I have no doubt that under his leadership our international sales effort will deliver significant net inflows.

“This appointment is an important part of our strategy to globalise our distribution capability and to respond to increased investor demand for our investment capabilities. The combination of exceptional investment performance, and organisational stability based on our strong culture, will give Richard the support he needs to break important new ground for the firm.”
