Highlights from the 2023 27four Investor Day: Release of the Annual ESG Asset Manager Survey and Announcement of Sustainable Asset Manager Award Winners

Financial services firm 27four commenced its highly anticipated annual Investor Day, themed "Disruption is here. Are you ready?" on Tuesday, 23rd May 2023, at the Houghton Hotel in Johannesburg.

Attended by a diverse group of investors and financial sector stakeholders, the event showcased 27four's future forward capabilities, including the integration of AI and machine learning, as well as deals concluded in the agriculture and medical technology sectors. Ebrahim Fakir, a renowned political commentator, delivered a compelling keynote address on the upcoming 2024 South African elections.

The event climaxed with the unveiling of the 2023 ESG Asset Manager Survey results and the announcement of the prestigious Sustainable Asset Manager Award winners. Endorsed by the Batseta Council of Retirement Funds, this coveted award acknowledged Ninety One, Sanlam Investments, and Stanlib as the foremost leaders in ESG.

The survey attracted participation from South African-domiciled asset managers overseeing South African fixed income and credit mandates of at least R100 million. A diverse range of managers, from industry giants to emerging firms and boutique establishments, partook in the survey. Their performance was evaluated across five key areas:

2. ESG implementation.
3. Active stewardship.
4. Transparency and disclosure.
5. Climate change.
