Big gain by STANLIB Small Cap Fund

25 April 2007 | Investments | General | Stanlib

SMALL capitalisation stocks continue to make big gains on the JSE, with the STANLIB Small Cap Fund currently setting the pace with 21.8% capital growth for the year to the end of March.

The small cap specialists at South Africas largest unit trust company are doing even better over the six months to March 31 with a whooping 43.78% return.

Anthony Sher, manager of the STANLIB Small Cap Fund, noted: "There is strong linkage between the prosperity of the nation and the country's small capitalisation ompanies. South Africas economic fundamentals remain strong, reflected in the impressive performance of key players across several domestic sectors.

"Fund performance has been buoyant for some time. However, this is an under-researched JSE category and we remain confident that relative value opportunities are still there to be exploited."
