New award successes confirm
STANLIB as top asset manager
STANLIB, the country’s largest unit trust company and already feted as South Africa’s leading asset manager, has again taken a clutch of investment industry awards.
Last night (Wednesday, May 7) it dominated the Morning Star Awards presented in Cape Town to celebrate the best risk-adjusted performance by the nation’s investment professionals.
STANLIB won the overall awards for the best one- and three-year performance and was runner-up overall for five-year relative risk-adjusted returns. The STANLIB Resources fund won top fund for one year.
In addition, the company took honours in 19 out of 56 categories on a night when every third award was handed to a STANLIB fund manager.
STANLIB chief executive officer George Brits commented: “At a time when South African families face increasing financial pressure, it is extremely important that the utmost professionalism be applied to the management of the nation’s wealth.
“We’re delighted by the accolades and the fact that recognition comes across such a well diversified range of categories and asset classes. However, the real winners are the savers and investors who entrust a key portion of their disposable income to our funds.
“We thank our clients for their trust and re-commit ourselves to the long-term quest for optimum results in an increasingly challenging environment.”
STANLIB serves both the retail and institutional markets and houses over 60 domestic unit trust funds as well as a wide range of offshore funds. At the beginning of the year, it took multiple honours in the Raging Bull Awards and won the overall prize as the country’s best unit trust management company.
