30 October 2007 Investec Asset Management

Mark Samuelson leaves UK to lead new Australia-based operation

Investec Asset Management today announced its intention to expand its business operations to Australia in early 2008. The company will open an office in Sydney under the leadership of Mark Samuelson.

Mark has vacated his former role as Head of UK Institutional and will relocate to Australia at the end of 2007 in order to take on his new position as Managing Director of Investec Asset Management (Australia). Mark is a founding member and a director of Investec Asset Management. He began his career with Investec Asset Management in South Africa in 1991 where he held various positions before becoming Head of South African Institutional Business Development.  In 2000 he relocated to London to spearhead the growth of Investec Asset Managements UK institutional business.

Hendrik du Toit, Chief Executive Officer of Investec Asset Management, commented:

"Mark has been a long-term senior player within the Investec Asset Management team.  His original contribution was to the growth of our business in South Africa, where he established and led the institutional business to become a market-leading proposition in that territory.  More recently, over the past six years Mark's commitment and perseverance have enabled Investec Asset Management to become a recognised and successful participant in the UK institutional market, and I congratulate him on his success in this area.

"Mark's new challenge will take him to yet another new continent, where he will be tasked with positioning Investec Asset Management's high-performance product range in Australia, the world's fourth largest institutional market."
