The journey to financial freedom

Godfrey Nti, FPI CEO.
The World Bank Report released in June, placed South Africa as the most over-indebted nation in the world, with 86% of the population in debt. This highlights the critical need for South Africans to better manage their money, and the clear need for better financial education and planning.
Understanding these challenges, the Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa (FPI) offers free financial planning education to people through its FPI MYMONEY123TM financial literacy programme. Supporting this programme is FPI’s annual Financial Planning Week, which will be hosted from 7 – 11 September 2015, and will see a host of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professionals / CFP® professionals provide free financial planning consultation and workshops to South Africans, nationwide.
“Financial stability is amongst the biggest concerns for most South Africans, however, many are ill-equipped to achieve financial independence. Exacerbated by the ongoing economic pressures, the low savings level and high debt ratio is a clear indicator of the monumental challenges people face” says Godfrey Nti, FPI CEO. “Our aim is help people break the cycle of financial dependency through financial awareness programmes, education, and coaching. It is possible for every South African to thrive, regardless of how much they earn, and our CFP® professionals are ideally suited to show them just how this can be done.”
To further support its financial literacy initiatives, FPI will be rolling out a free, year-long social media campaign titled #WhichOneAreYou. The objective is to identify ten participants that resonate the financial behaviours displayed by most South Africans and take them on the journey that will help them develop a healthier financial habits.
