FPI Chairperson appointed to the international Financial Planning Standards Board

25 November 2008 Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa (FPI)

The FPI SA recently attended the bi-annual international FPSB Council meeting in Shanghai at which, Prem Govender, current FPI Chairperson was appointed to the FPSB Ltd Board of Directors with effect from 01 January 2009. A requirement of taking up this new international position is that Prem cannot hold an FPSB Affiliate Board leadership position and has therefore resigned as FPI chairperson with effect from 01 January 2009.

Prem will be succeeded by the current FPI Vice Chairperson, Gerhardt Meyer, who will take up his new position on 01 January 2009, with Solly Keetse, FPI Investment ISG Committee Chairperson, being elected by the FPI Board as the new FPI Vice Chairperson from this date.

“We are very proud of Prem’s appointment and wish her well in her new role;” says John Arnesen, CEO of the FPI. “Prem has made a significant contribution in leading the FPI since her appointment as chairperson in 2007. Gerhardt and Solly are well equipped to take over the leadership of the organisation and have supported us in their volunteer capacities for a number of years”.
