Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa extends terms of office for board leadership
Gerhardt Meyer CFP® and Solly Keetse CFP®, to provide continuity towards achieving FPI’s vision
At a Special General Meeting of members held on Wednesday 30 March 2011 at the Apollo Hotel in Randburg, Johannesburg, the members of the Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa (FPI), by way of amendment to the by-laws of the institute, approved the terms of office for the FPI Board Chairperson, Gerhardt Meyer and Chairperson-elect (previously Vice-Chairperson), Solly Keetse, to be extended for an additional two years, serving until 2013. Also approved was the amendment of the position of Vice-Chairperson in favour of Chairperson-elect as well as approving a limit to the number of consecutive terms non-executive directors may serve on the board to four terms of two years each.
“In the last few years, FPI has made good strides on its vision and long-term strategy to establish financial planning as a distinct profession, with the CFP® mark as its symbol of excellence,” said Godfrey Nti, FPI Chief Executive Officer. “Extending Gerhardt and Solly’s terms as well as the other changes made to the by-laws, provides much needed continuity of leadership at board level at this critical time when FPI is putting in place a new strategy to strengthen its pre-eminent position of being the standards setter and torchbearer of professionalism in the financial services industry.” he added.
“To ensure adequate succession planning, the board took the view that this change was crucial to continue promoting and positioning the FPI as the leading professional body for financial planning with key stakeholders,” said Meyer.
“Gerhardt and I are looking forward to working with the board, membership and indeed all stakeholder communities to make FPI’s vision a reality,” added Keetse.
