2017 FPI Professionals Convention: Lead, Inspire and Build Trust

The 2017 FPI Professionals Convention themed” Lead, Inspire and Build Trust” will see more than 800 financial planning professionals attend the Convention in Cape Town this year.

The Professionals Convention is one of the largest annual financial planning events on the financial services industry’s calendar, sponsored by Old Mutual Wealth. 

The convention is a feast of knowledge sharing and networking opportunities; attendees will hear from 30 exceptional leading local and international speakers on topics such as sustaining the online presence of their practice through the creative use of website, emails and social media, Investment in South Africa, Volunteerism, Diversity and the latest regulatory and financial planning changes. 

Kicking off the convention is Jeremy Gardiner addressing a topic of interest to most South Africans - The State of the South African Economy, after which Justice Malala, a renowned political commentator, newspaper columnist and best-selling author will present the effects of political uncertainty on our economy.

Nigel Willmott, CFP® will share “How to make the Client Connection.” This will be followed by panel discussions on Regulatory Change is Upon Us – What now? A Global Perspective on the Financial Planning Profession, as well as How to succeed at Transformation, Diversity and Inclusion. Hear directly from a client as he tells his story on “If I could turn back time - A client’s perspective on planning” and lastly The Champion's Code by Ross Bernstein. The first day ends off with FPI’s glittering Gala Dinner that will see a number of FPI awards, including the sought after 2017 FPI Financial Planner of the Year, being presented.

During day two of the conference, attendees will receive useful, practical information on how to grow their practices through retention, Key note speaker Ryan Stramrood will share “How to Develop a Power Mindset,” followed by panel discussions on Pro Bono and Volunteerism: What’s in it for me, Investments in South Africa: A look ahead and Online Communication – the Secret Disruptor. 

The convention will leave attendees feeling energised, informed and inspired, as well as assist the Institute in meeting its mandate of increasing the level of professionalism and positively influence the quality of advice provided by its members.
