Moonstone: Latest FSB FAIS newsletter
Please click here to download a copy of the eighth newsletter from the FSB which is numbered 7.
The contents covered are:
- New submission dates for financial statements
- Submission dates for compliance reports (2008 and 2009)
- FAIS Fit and Proper Information
- The Debarment process (which we covered here last week)
- The latest news from the FSB
Starting with the last item, this section contains details of where to download specific bits of information from the FSB website. A number of people have complained about being unable to download information here, including me. It appears that the problem lies with your firewall blocking FTP documents. My internet service provider removed the block for me and now it only takes what feels like half an hour to download the relevant documents (if it does not time out). There are no prizes this week for trying to find a clever alternative for what the abbreviation "FTP" stands for, particularly not from the little Johnnies out there!
Financial statements will in future have to be submitted within four months, rather than six months as in the past. This is going to put quite a bit of strain on those reliant on accountants and auditors, so please make sure you understand these implications fully. There are new guidelines for auditors but guess what? I was unable to download the document. I will set my alarm for 04.00 tomorrow and try again.
The only change that I could pick up in the debarment process from the previous newsletter is that the Regulator now has to be informed within 15 working days and not 30, as was said then.
This information is free, and essential reading; please take the trouble to stay informed. We have placed the newsletter on our website for faster downloading.
