Astute Newsflash: STANLIB launches its LISP and unit trust data on Astute’s platform

STANLIB, South Africa’s third largest investment manager, is the next major investment company to utilise the Astute platform for use by financial advisers on behalf of their clients.

STANLIB recognises the strides made by financial advisers in moving towards improved professionalism and best practice management. The Group understands the need for their affiliated financial advisers to have easy access to client data across product providers.

From 28 November 2008, financial advisers will be able to access investment information for STANLIB’s unit trust and LISP clients on the Astute system.

STANLIB believes that by providing this data through Astute, it will further strengthen relationships between clients and their -intermediaries.

Please note that whilst STANLIB’s investment information will be available on the Astute website, most financial needs analysis systems will not immediately accommodate the STANLIB investment products. Please contact your systems provider should you need further information in this regard.

An important point to note is that a financial adviser will only be able to access a client’s investment information through Astute if the adviser is the broker on record for that client with STANLIB. The normal Astute client consent is also a requirement even if the adviser is the broker on record for the client.

Financial advisers requesting clients’ investment information from STANLIB will be matched to the client portfolio on their ID number, meaning that the advisers’ ID number on the Astute system has to be the same as the ID number on the client portfolio on the STANLIB system. Should the ID numbers not be the same, an error message will be returned to the requesting adviser stating that the client portfolio cannot be returned via the Astute system. The process of obtaining the information directly from STANLIB then needs to be pursued.
