Resolution Health Medical Scheme (RHMS) announced today the appointment of a new Administrator and Managed Healthcare Provider for the Scheme. “Members will continue to enjoy superior benefits and services from the Scheme. It will be business as usual, while at the same time enhancing the service of Resolution Health Medical Scheme to the benefit of members, service providers and employer groups in collaboration with the new Administrator and Managed Healthcare Provider,” said Acting Principal Officer of RHMS Mrs. Helene van der Walt.

Agility Global Health Solutions Africa (Agility) will assume the role of Administrator and Managed Healthcare Provider as from 1 December 2009. This follows a due tender process which was overseen by consulting and actuarial firm Fifth Quadrant and observers from the Council for Medical Schemes.

The announcement paves the way for the infrastructure, staff and assets of its current Administrator being transferred to Agility in a single seamless process, while enhancing the processes and service through the globally applied technology and intellectual property of Agility.

“This is an ideal outcome as members will feel no effects from the transfer to the new Administrator, it will remain good business as usual and service will be maintained at the same high levels”, said Van der Walt.

Van der Walt reiterated that the Scheme remained financially sound and strong and that reserves remained good. “Resolution has always been committed to providing excellent benefits and services to our members and none of that will change, to the contrary, we believe that this service will be enhanced and bettered through the superior intellectual property and technology of Agility. This will place RHMS even further ahead of its nearest competitors and confirm the Scheme’s position as a leader in the medical schemes market”, she said.

“Agility is committed to providing superior services to its clients and it is this synergy, as well as our exclusive commercial medical scheme offering to RHMS which has created an ideal environment for us to provide Managed Healthcare and Administration services to the Scheme,” said Agility Chief Operating Officer, George Roper. “Agility has always been renowned for implementing successful transformation strategies to its health insurance customers, ensuring better financial and clinical results through its focused research and development strategy and cutting edge technology solutions”, Roper concluded.

Jannie Kotze, CEO for Resolution Holdings (the Holding Company for Resolution Health (Pty) Ltd who was the previous administrator of the Scheme), said that the departure of the Scheme from its healthcare administration business would not affect the operations of the rest of the company’s interests. These interests include international and national interests in Life, Wealth Management and General Insurance businesses. “Resolution remains a well established company with strong financial structures and business contracts in place”, Kotze concluded.
