Resolution Health Medical Scheme and Agility Channel launch 2011 product range and new rewards programme

Resolution Health Medical Scheme (Resolution Health) and Agility Channel, the distribution and strategic marketing company contracted to Resolution Health, launched the RHMS product range for 2011 last week, along with a new and unique rewards programme that will incorporate benefits for all stakeholders. Resolution Health was the first scheme to launch its products for 2011 as part of its revised strategy to be a leader in medical scheme provision.

2010 in review

2010 has seen the repositioning of Resolution Health, through the partnership with administrator and managed care provider, Agility Global Health Solutions (Agility GHS) a move which has resulted in positive growth in the Scheme’s solvency levels by more than 1,5% to 17,82% over the past nine months and increasing even further towards the end of 2010. Gross premium income is also set to increase by 6% for the year end 2010, while average claims ratios have also shown marked improvement during the year to date. Tight financial management has seen Resolution Health return to profitability in 2010, reversing the loss incurred in 2009. Moreover, the Scheme’s A-minus rating by the Global Credit Rating Agency has been reaffirmed. 2010 has seen the implementation of a number of processes and internal strategies aimed at streamlining claims and service delivery processes, re-focusing marketing strategies as well and enhanced distribution channels.

Resolution Health implemented measures for continued improvement in corporate governance structures and continues to work closely with the CMS in addressing governance issues. This has resulted in a significant improvement in the relationship with the Regulator allowing Resolution Health to move beyond the historical governance issues that beset the Scheme in 2009.

Product options for 2011

The Resolution product range for 2011 has been increased from four to five plan options with the addition of a further complementary plan to the Progressive Option, namely the Progressive Select Option. Plan Options for 2011 will therefore be: Hospital Plan, Foundation Plan (previously the Fundamental Plan), Progressive Select Plan, Progressive Flex Plan, and the Prestige Plan. Existing features which add value to benefit options have been retained and include:

  • International travel cover across most benefit options
  • ResoBaby and ResoTot maternity programmes across all benefit options
  • Guardian preventative care programme across all options

Enhancements across option plans for 2011 include:

  • Removal of hospital limits across all option plans (subject to Scheme protocols and exclusions)
  • Increase in overall limits across all options by inflation linked percentages
  • Increases in oncology benefits across all options
  • Increase in the casualty benefit
  • Extension of Guardian Preventative Care Programme to include a Pharmacy Risk Benefit for Pharmacist consultations and over the counter (OTC) medication.
  • Extension of Guardian Preventative Care Programme to include Foundation Plan members
  • Addition of another income band to the Foundation Plan to better accommodate low income groups
  • Specialist fees paid at between 100% and 220% of Scheme Rate dependent upon the Plan Option
  • Unlimited GP visits as well as quality dentistry and optometry at a network of service providers for Progressive Select Plan members.
  • An additional benefit category for added healthcare services such as biokineticists, dieticians, physiotherapists and psychologists for both Progressive Select and Progressive Flex Plans.
  • A Plus Benefit for Prestige Plan which allows for an additional amount for use on a range of listed areas of treatment such as radiology, pathology, pharmacy advised treatment (PAT), physiotherapy, speech therapy and audiology, psychology and psychiatric treatment.

“The 2011 product range provides comprehensive options for our members to choose from”, said Mark Arnold, Principal Officer of Resolution, “Key strategic interventions have been set in place to ensure the promotion of maintained health amongst our members and to further streamline processes and drive down operational and healthcare costs.’ “Significant to this process is the introduction of the new Agility Patient Driven Care™ (PDC™) programme”, said Arnold. “This model is based on the provision of personalised and additional care by Personal Health Managers to high risk members who are automatically identified who suffer from illnesses such as diabetes and high blood pressure in order to ensure their ongoing health and reduce incidents of poor health.”

Contributions for 2011

As a result of prudent financial management and significant restructuring of business focus, the average contribution increase for 2011 is set at 8,6%. Once adjusted for the introduction of new and adjusted salary bands on the Foundation plan option and introduction of the Progressive Select plan option, the effective average increase across all plan options is 8%, with some plan options showing increases below inflation.

“Resolution Health is thus particularly well positioned to take advantage of opportunities in 2011, in addition to the return to profitability; the Scheme has maintained a beneficiary average age of 30.7, well below the norm for open schemes (33.3) and one of the lowest claims ratios at 77% against an industry average of 86%. This together with additional savings anticipated in 2011 through the unique managed care interventions mean that not only has Resolution Health been able to set very competitive increases for 2011, but will be in a position to sustain low increases in subsequent years” said Arnold.

Introduction of new rewards programme – Zurreal

2011 will see the introduction of a new rewards programme by marketing and distribution company Agility Channel. This unique programme, Zurreal, is available to all stakeholders of Resolution thereby ensuring that all participants in the value chain of services to Resolution are included.

Divided into specific rewards programmes for each stakeholder grouping, Zurreal provides rewards varying from free member rewards for positive wellness and lifestyle choices, to targeted rewards for intermediaries, professional service providers as well as Employers.

Zurreal4Life is a free benefit to all Resolution members who then have the option to buy up to the Zurreal4Life Platinum option for additional benefits and features.

Zurreal4Advice provides intermediaries with structured incentives on various levels, while Zurreal4Practice is aimed at promoting improved service delivery to members through a range of initiatives undertaken by service providers and their practice staff.

Zurreal4Employers provides employers with wellness solutions for their staff which is fully integrated and can be used to enhance productivity and decrease absenteeism amongst employees.

Zurreal is aimed at providing significant reward to stakeholders in a structured manner,’ said Neels Barendrecht, Chairman of Agility and acting MD of Agility Channel. “Traditional rewards programmes are driven by often untangible rewards that are seldom readily attainable. Zurreal provides rewards solutions across all stakeholders and in so doing enhances stakeholder experience and promotes improved service delivery.”
