Resolution Health leading the way in medical cover for 2011
Resolution Health Medical Scheme (RHMS) has positioned itself in a positive light within the medical scheme market with the release of its 2011 Product Range in late September. As one of the first medical schemes in the industry to announce its extended product range for 2011, Resolution Health has also been able to secure its ranking as a medical scheme offering one of the lowest contribution increases in the market to date by setting average contribution increases at just 8% for 2011. This is well below the current average increase amongst schemes that have announced their products for 2011, which is currently set at 10,20%
Furthermore, due to advanced planning and strategic positioning, RHMS was amongst the first medical schemes to have its cover plans for 2011 unreservedly approved by the Council for Medical Schemes(approved on 16 October 2010). Currently, only two schemes have had their cover plans for 2011 approved by the CMS without amendment. This comes despite the fact that the Scheme introduced an additional plan option and a wide range of product enhancements which could easily have delayed CMS approval. “We have been planning for, and analyzing the needs of our members throughout the year and this is the reason why we were fully prepared and had our house in order when submitting the 2011 product range for approval”, said Mark Arnold, Principal Officer of RHMS.
The new plan options, which allow provision for a new network based cover plan and extended salary scales for low income members means that RHMS is able to provide broader cover for members at the affordable rates which have become synonymous with the Scheme. “We have not however compromised on quality benefits in order to keep increases low”, said Arnold,” on the contrary we have extended benefit limits by inflation related levels and added a host of enhancements to our offering across option plans which will assist members to better utilise their cover in a optimal manner.’
These include:
- The removal of annual hospital limits across all product plans subject to scheme specific exclusions and protocols.
- Access to the unique Guardian Preventative Care Benefit across all option plans aimed at proactive health promotion for all members, which is paid from risk as opposed to members funds.
- Appropriate oncology benefits.
- New pharmacy benefit for access to limited over-the-counter medication.
- Professional fees ranging from 100 per cent to 220 per cent, option dependant.
- Access to a casualty benefit for out-patient management.
- New Flexible benefit access on the Progressive Flex Option for use on a range of treatments.
- New Plus benefit on the comprehensive Prestige Plan for use on a range of treatments.
“We are confident that the Resolution Health 2011 product range has all the aspects required to provide the man on the street with medical cover to suit their needs and their pocket, without complicated medical jargon, hidden claims loopholes or benefit sacrifices”, said Arnold.
