Medshield’s new Board welcomes Scheme’s optimal financial position – again

20 August 2008 | Healthcare | Medical Schemes | Medshield

Medshield, one of South Africa’s largest medical schemes, has once again received a glowing report from the international ratings agency, Global Credit Ratings (GCR). The scheme has been acknowledged for its excellent claims paying ability, scoring an AA-rating for the third consecutive year. This is the second highest rating a medical scheme can achieve.

The news is welcomed by Medshield’s newly elected Board of Trustees. Following the Scheme’s recent AGM in July, Medshield is pleased to announce the new Board, with Jay Singh appointed as Scheme Chairman and Melani Coetsee as Vice-Chairperson.

Commenting on the favourable GCR rating, Medshield’s Executive Principal Officer, Clinton Alley (pictured right), says, “The Board is delighted to report the positive findings to all Medshield stakeholders. The peace of mind that medical claims will be paid timeously is incredibly important to members, especially in these tough economic times.” Alley concludes, “This assurance coupled with Medshield’s fantastic inclusive benefits provides our members with a healthcare partner they can truly rely on.”
