Medshield, one of South Africa’s largest medical schemes, has followed its self-administration launch effective from 1st February this year with an announcement that its distribution function is evolving into Medshield Distribution Services.

Clinton Alley, the Executive Principal Officer of Medshield Medical Scheme, comments, “As the exclusive distribution arm for Medshield products, adopting the Medshield name strengthens the Medshield brand. Medshield Distribution Services currently operates from 6 offices around the country and we are pleased to announce plans to expand further by establishing more regional offices.”

He continues, “Excellent customer service, coupled with Medshield’s market-leading ‘Always There’ benefits, provide a fantastic value proposition to our current and prospective members.”

Tangible benefits that will save brokers time and hassle include the following:

•Communication to brokers will be improved with useful updates on new developments in the marketplace and the latest product information;

•Medshield Distribution Services will participate in co-presentations with brokers to assist in closing the deal;

•The introduction of new products that complement the Medshield offering will enable brokers the opportunity to cross-sell;

•And brokers will be provided with marketing collateral as well as product and sales training, thereby resulting in better performance.

Medshield needed a distribution arm that is dedicated to the scheme, and with existing systems in place. The scheme also wanted experienced staff already employed and entrenched in the scheme’s culture, with thorough knowledge of Medshield’s products, to guarantee that clients are well serviced.

Medshield Distribution Services has an existing relationship with brokers and members, an existing network of contracted brokers, an established national footprint, and a proven sales record.

“Over the past 28 years, brokers, consultants, relationship centre managers and directors have worked intimately with Medshield and its members. The partnership between Medshield and Medshield Distribution Services promotes this truly unified organisation. We’ve simplified our partnership by eliminating confusion over sub-brands and this, together with a supportive service to brokers, gives more authenticity to the highly competitive products that we offer,” concludes Alley.
