KeyHealth removes co-payments on all member benefit options

28 September 2021 | Healthcare | Medical Schemes | KeyHealth Medical Scheme

KeyHealth Medical Scheme has removed Co-payments on some key benefits across its products. Co-payments are also commonly known as out-of-pocket payments.

This was announced at the Scheme’s 2022 product launch held in Pretoria on 21 September 2021.

In simple language, Co-payments are the “dreaded” extra charges that medical scheme members need to pay “out of pocket” at various healthcare service providers over and above paying their Medical Scheme premiums.

Joe Seoloane, KeyHealth’s Curator told attendees that the Scheme had removed Co-payments on the following products:

- Out-of-hospital pathology on Platinum, Gold and Silver benefit options
- In and out of hospital MRI/CT scans on all options
- Non-CDL chronic medicine on Platinum and Gold benefit option (removal of the compulsory 10% co-payment)
- Specialised dentistry on Equilibrium, Silver, Gold and Platinum

“Co-payments are a financial burden to members, which may even result in them delaying their treatment. By removing co-payments , we are easing the financial burden enabling access to care, which we hope will be a welcome relief for our members during these tough times” Seoloane added.
