High court grants Sechaba interim relief

12 August 2013 | Healthcare | Medical Schemes | Grant Newton, Sechaba Medical Solutions

Yesterday (7 August), the North Gauteng High Court granted Sechaba Medical Solutions interim relief against Sizwe Medical Fund and its curator, Ngubekhaya Gobinca's, decision to terminate the administrator's contract.

Sechaba launched its application last week following Gobinca's decision to review all main supplier contracts and his subsequent termination of Sizwe's
35 year long administration and managed care contract with Sechaba.

Sechaba CEO, Grant Newton, says the decision effectively stops the Curator from moving ahead with new tenders until a final determination of Sechaba's application has been made by the Court at the end of the month when the remainder of Sechaba's application will be heard. "This means that the Curator, under the order of the Court, may not proceed to engage with or conclude agreements with any contractors or vendors to fulfil his stated intention of going into self administration," explains Newton.
