Fedhealth introduces the 11+ programme

28 September 2010 | Healthcare | Medical Schemes | Fedhealth

Fedhealth, South Africa's fourth largest medical scheme, is a proud sponsor of the newly launched 11+ programme. This fascinating new programme focuses on teaching coaches and players the importance of doing the correct warm-up before a sports match or event.

"A smart warm up not only improves a player's performance but also helps prevent injuries which is exactly what Fedhealth promotes in its broader wellness strategy," said Katy Caldis, CEO Fedhealth.

The first free pilot programme was held on recently at Ajax Cape Town for all PSL coaches. The programme, facilitated by Sport Science Physiotherapy Centre (SSPC) and endorsed by FIFA, has proven to cut injuries by up to half if performed regularly and correctly.

"We plan to roll out another four programmes in the Western Cape this year.

The second event will target PSL coaches who couldn't attend the first session. The next two programmes will be aimed at school coaches and the last will be held at a medical conference later in the year," said Caldis.

The plan is to extend the programme nationally in 2011.

"We have sponsored this programme as it falls within Fedhealth's strategy of injury and illness prevention. We want to encourage all levels of wellness and believe that this programme will bring a new dimension of wellness to sports enthusiasts," concludes Caldis.
