Oneplan Health Insurance launches Air Angels in partnership with Bryte Insurance and ER24

22 March 2017 Oneplan Health Insurance

Affordable, emergency helicopter services now available to South Africans.

Oneplan Health Insurance (Oneplan), an affordable healthcare provider, has partnered with business risk specialist, Bryte Insurance, and emergency medical care provider, ER24, to introduce Air Angels. Recently launched, Air Angels is a product designed to provide emergency helicopter services to South Africans in the event of a motor vehicle or private aircraft accident.

“We believe that insurance should play an enabling role in society; helping people better mitigate against risk and in the event that an incident occurs, empowering them to have access to the right support. As an insurer, our focus therefore remains on identifying and responding to customer needs. Accordingly, with road accidents among the top 10 leading causes of deaths in South Africa, we are delighted to partner with Oneplan to underwrite a product that is potentially life-saving,” says Wim Morland, Executive Head: Insurance Partnerships at Bryte Insurance.

In 2016 alone, ER24 responded to 29,000 vehicle accidents across the country with peak hour traffic often hindering response times. Considering 80% of South African’s do not have access to adequate healthcare cover, Oneplan’s prioritisation of affordable, air emergency services through Air Angels will allow accident victims to be airlifted to appropriate medical facilities where they can receive immediate medical assistance.

Jonathan Killik, Chairman of Oneplan Health Insurance says, “Our ultimate aim is to provide South Africans with affordable and effective cover for any eventuality. This product will ensure that customers always receive swift, quality treatment when they need it no matter where they are. As always, customer safety and care is our number one priority.”

Air Angels cover can be obtained from approximately R75 a month for single cover, and R145 for four vehicle occupants, depending on whether customers have existing cover. The offering also includes optional accident cover to the value of R100,000 per person.
